Singxer SA-1
Singxer SA-1 — Class A Bargain Hunter
The Singxer SA-1 is a fully balanced, Class A headphone amplifier that costs a fraction of what similar designs command from established brands. Using discrete components throughout, it delivers the warmth and authority of Class A amplification at a price that seems almost too good to be true.
Build & Design
Impressive for the money. Full aluminium chassis, large volume knob, comprehensive front panel with gain and input selection. The SA-1 runs warm (Class A bias draws significant power), so ventilation is important. Both 4-pin XLR and 4.4mm balanced outputs are provided alongside standard 6.3mm. Build quality is solid and professional.
Sound
Character
Warm, smooth, and authoritative — classic Class A traits. The SA-1 has a richness to its presentation that instantly distinguishes it from cheaper op-amp designs. Bass has genuine weight and slam, mids are full-bodied and slightly forward, and treble is smooth without being dull. It’s not as characterful as a tube amp, but it’s warmer and more engaging than solid-state amps at similar prices.
Power & Control
Excellent. The balanced output delivers serious current, driving planars like the LCD-X with authority. My HD600 gains bass weight and control that reveals its full potential. The Class A bias ensures linearity across the power envelope — dynamics are clean and natural.
Comparisons
Against my Sparkos Gemini, the SA-1 shares some of the warmth but without the tube magic. Against the Topping A90 Discrete, the SA-1 is warmer and more musical, the Topping cleaner and more transparent. Against the Schiit Magni Piety, the SA-1 offers more power and Class A refinement at a higher price — whether that premium is worthwhile depends on your headphones and preferences.
DMS highlighted the SA-1 as one of the best value balanced amps available, and for planars in particular, it’s a compelling choice.
